About Skylar
"The room smells like old wood and fresh strings as we tune up for our first exercise. You will start by setting your hands on the guitar neck while I demonstrate a specific fingerpicking pattern. We move through various blues progressions or songwriting basics designed to build your confidence and technical skill.
Kids and advanced players alike often find that focusing on the theory behind the song makes everything click. Keep it simple. That is the core of how I approach teaching.
The music should feel intuitive rather than academic. You will get there."

"Music becomes a tangible language when you understand how to manipulate the fretboard. I started teaching because I love seeing the moment a student figures out a tricky blues progression on their own. My BA in Guitar from Concordia University provides the technical depth I use to guide hobbyists and kids through the instrument. With 13 years of experience, I have developed a knack for helping self-taught players find the structure they previously lacked.
I spend my time balancing electric technique with improvisation and music theory. I aim to keep our sessions grounded in the music you actually want to play."
