About Prethika
I am a student with strong academic credentials, having consistently achieved straight As in all my major public school examinations, from UPSR to matriculation. Coming from a solid science background, I developed a deep interest in subjects like Biology and Chemistry, which remain among my strongest areas of expertise. Currently, I am in my final year of a law degree at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia’s top university, where I continue to refine my analytical and intellectual skills. I believe these skills—particularly critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication—are invaluable in the tutoring environment. My passion for teaching is also rooted in my upbringing. Growing up in a family of teachers, I witnessed firsthand the impact that good educators can have on students’ lives. Teaching, to me, is not only rewarding but also intellectually enriching, as it constantly challenges me to deepen my own understanding while helping others grow. I particularly enjoyed my high school years, where science was not just a subject but something I truly loved learning. While I eventually pursued law, a field centered on language and reasoning, I still find myself drawn back to science. Tutoring gives me a way to reconnect with this passion while sharing knowledge with students who may benefit from the same excitement and clarity I once felt. Ultimately, I see tutoring not just as a job but as an opportunity to inspire, support, and guide students—helping them achieve their goals while also finding fulfillment in my own journey of continuous learning.

My approach to tutoring focuses on simplifying complex concepts into clear, manageable parts and encouraging students to actively engage with the material. I avoid pure memorization, instead emphasizing understanding and application through real-life examples, diagrams, and practice questions. By asking students to explain concepts back to me, I ensure they have fully grasped the lesson. A typical lesson runs for 1.5 to 2 hours, structured with a short review of previous material, introduction of new content, and practice through questions or discussions. My lessons will be suitable for primary school students as well as SPM students.
