First evaluating where the student is, and what they’re not understanding in the subject. Then trying to teach the subject in a way that is both interesting and makes sense given things that the student already knows or in terms that are more relevant to their interests. I try to give an understanding as to why the subject and what I’m teaching them is important in everyday life. I tend to utilize PowerPoint for lectures, but for tutoring individually I find it more useful to work one-on-one and explain or write out what I’m teaching.
