About Ainslie
I have been teaching piano to all ages and skill levels for 7 years, so I really have been able to adapt and tweak my teaching style to figure out the best and most efficient approach. I love to connect with my students and make sure that I understand their goals for music/piano before starting lessons, so that I can best plan out the lessons. I have taught students who just want to play for fun, and we make the lessons fun and easy going together, and have taught other students who want to pursue piano in a more serious way, and have approached their lessons differently. For all my students I try to help them develop broader skills that can be used in all areas of music, such as developing the ear, because I feel as if this is a very important skill to have. I am also a performer, I love to perform, and so I often help students from a performance perspective as well.

I have been able to study all types of pedagogical approaches to piano teaching, specifically the Taubman method. I like to focus a lot on the connection of the entire body to the sound being produced at the piano. I am happy to teach any age and any skill level. My typical lesson plan includes some warmups, such as scales/arpeggios/other exercises, some ear training, and then focusing on the chosen piece(s) or song(s) for the remainder of the lesson. I end the lesson typically by asking if the student has any questions, and by setting some practice goals for the week with the student.
