About Lucas
I have been teaching Latin and Classics for five years and have a track record of getting students the highest grades. Prior to this I was working for a number of years in a city Law firm after completing my degree in classics. I have an in-depth knowledge of both the the GCSE and A-Level exam board specifications and can help students realise their potential. I work hard and expect my students to do the same. However, I also see the value in students taking meaningful break in order to refocus.

I teach students aged between 11-18, and can therefore create and plan sessions and tutorials that allow any student to flourish and enjoy their learning. As a teacher, my lessons are inclusive and I want students to feel they can participate. I use colour coding to help with translating sentences as I feel this acts as “stabilizers” to learning and can gradually be taken away. I also include pictures to help with vocabulary learning and try to write stories and sentences that include figures from current society or pop culture. I plan lessons for an hour, but can adapt this depending on a students requirements. Often older students benefit from more time together. I believe that to excel in Latin at both A-Level and GCSE, students need to have a complete knowledge of the vocabulary from the exam board. I therefore plan my sessions from the vocabulary and only use Latin words that are in a students’s vocabulary list.
