About Laoise

I have been in love with Japan since I was a teenager and have spent all my free time for the past decade learning as much Japanese as possible. I love Japanese food and films and learned via my interests.

About the lesson

I am here to support you, so I can tailor each lesson to your needs. I have been a learner for over a decade, so I understand the difficulty of learning a language. We can base lessons on your interests and goals.

Perfect! Laoise is absolutely outstanding on series of levels.

She projects positivity all throughout the session to the point that it becomes contagious.
She knows how to correct a student without making them feel bad for their mistake and reinforce instead their confidence by highlighting the successes.
She is extremely knowledgeable about the topic and can explain the most complicated topics very clearly.
She has a ton of passion for Japan, its language and its culture.
She's extremely flexible in her approach and has been able to significantly adapt her teaching style to my requests and evolving needs already 3 times.
She's very generous with her time and will always try to accomodate my needs of busy freelancer.

Being a non-native speaker she can relate to the challenges of learning a difficult and unfamiliar language entirely from scratch.

Laoise has a huge amount of knowledge about Japan and Japanese, which really helps in our lessons: she can tell me about the context and nuances of phrases that we learn so that I'm able to remember them and use them properly. I passed my JLPT N4 exam last December thanks to her. I'd highly recommend her!

She is patient with me when I make mistakes or don't understand something, and she has helped my business English a lot (practicing for interviews, making CVs, etc.). We have also studied Hiberno-English together, which made it much easier for me to settle into life in Ireland.
