About Emiliana
I am a PhD student looking to give tutoring to others! I have my Bachelor's and Master's and lived in Mexico for 2 months in regards to learning about the culture and language firsthand. I was not raised learning Spanish, I was taught it in school and learning through coworkers and friends. I know learning a new language can be difficult and that there is patience and trials involved and I want to be here to help you through every step of the way!

As a beginning to intermediate Spanish tutor, my approach focuses on creating a practical, immersive, and supportive learning environment. Here’s how I share my knowledge: Teaching Method and Techniques: - Communicative Approach: I prioritize real-world language use, encouraging students to communicate in Spanish from the start. This builds confidence and fluency by focusing on meaningful conversation rather than rote memorization. - Contextual Learning: I introduce grammar and vocabulary within a cultural or situational context to make the learning more relevant and engaging. - Interactive Exercises: I incorporate role-play, dialogues, and problem-solving activities to reinforce learning. This keeps lessons dynamic and helps students internalize new concepts. - Personalized Pacing: I tailor lessons to individual learning styles and paces, ensuring that students feel challenged but not overwhelmed. - Regular Feedback and Correction: I provide constructive feedback in real-time and focus on building a strong foundation by correcting common mistakes early. A Typical Lesson Plan: 1. Warm-Up (5-10 minutes): - Quick review of the previous lesson or a short conversation in Spanish. 2. New Content Introduction (20-30 minutes): - Introducing new vocabulary, phrases, or grammatical structures, with explanations and examples. 3. Practice Activities (20-25 minutes): - Engaging in activities like role-plays, writing exercises, or listening practice based on the new content. 4. Cultural Insight (5-10 minutes): - Incorporating an interesting cultural element, such as music, traditions, or historical facts, to make learning more immersive. 5. Wrap-Up (5-10 minutes): - Summarizing the key takeaways. What Sets Me Apart: - Cultural Integration: I weave Spanish and Latin American culture into each lesson to provide a richer learning experience. - Patience and Flexibility: I understand the challenges of learning a new language and am patient in working with students to overcome hurdles at their own pace. - Holistic Learning: I focus on all aspects of language (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) to ensure comprehensive development. Who the Lessons Are For: - Level: Beginner to intermediate learners. - Age Range: I teach all ages. - Class Specificities: Lessons are ideal for students preparing for exams, travelers wanting conversational skills, professionals needing Spanish for work, or language enthusiasts wanting to deepen their knowledge.
