(I use PHONICS to teach reading, and i make the letters into pictures to help kids remember the letter names)
The first lesson i would teach is the letter A, and make the letter look like an apple.
If its a young child, i will teach them to colour in the lines, and teach them how to say the letter sound of (A)
If its a young child, we will play games to learn the letters of the alphabet. another learning strategy is draw the letter (A) in sand or dirt.
We will also read a story about apples. for the first lesson.
(I will adapt the lesson plan to how fast the child learns.)
