About Sibel

I have been a teacher for over 15 years, but at heart, I have always been a learner first. I believe the best educators are those who stay curious about the world, continue growing, and genuinely love learning themselves. This is something I try to pass on to every student I work with — not just helping them succeed academically, but helping them develop curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning that lasts far beyond the classroom.
Outside of teaching, I am constantly exploring new interests. I love traveling and experiencing new cultures, learning about history and geography, reading fantasy books, and spending time with my very mismatched pets — a giant Maine Coon cat and a tiny Chihuahua who somehow think they run the house. I also love games, strategy, and puzzles, which has shaped the way I teach by making learning engaging, interactive, and fun.
I bring both professionalism and warmth to my lessons, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and growing into confident learners.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centered around meeting each student where they are and providing individualized support based on their unique learning needs. I believe learning is not just about memorizing content, but about building confidence, developing curiosity, and teaching students how to learn so they can become independent learners over time.
I begin by identifying each student’s strengths and areas for growth, then create engaging lessons that combine direct instruction, guided practice, discussion, and hands-on learning when appropriate. I continuously check for understanding and adjust my teaching to ensure students feel supported while also being challenged.
What sets me apart is over 15 years of teaching experience across Ontario classrooms, international schools, IB programs, and ESL education in Canada, China, and Turkey.
My lessons are designed for students from school readiness through Grade 6, specializing in literacy, math, and individualized academic support for students who need extra guidance or enrichment.
