About Riata

Hello I am a Navy veteran of 5 years as a Helicopter Mechanic, after separating from the military I became a civilian pilot using my GI Bill. I look forward to tutoring and mentoring students in the aviation career field!

About the lesson

Usually each lesson is one or two hours based on what works for your schedule, each lesson will be specific to your needs depending where you are at in training. I offer lessons to Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, CFII, Multi and CPT.

Perfect! Riata is incredibly organized and experienced CFI. The lesson went well, I learned things that only an experienced teacher can convey in a way that spoke to me in my inexperience without being demeaning. What age did you start playing sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.
My career in aviation started when I joined the military and became a mechanic on helicopters after serving five years I separated and started my civilian career. I completed my bachelors degree and pursued all of my pilot ratings, I became a flight instructor and have been teaching students the past two years.
What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?
I really enjoyed teaching students in aviation and helping them through there journey to become a pilot! I fly small planes now but one day I hope to fly jets!
What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?
My motivation to keep pushing forward in life is to be successful and to achieve goals that are hard to obtain.
Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?
When I first started in aviation there where times I wanted to give up when things got hard, but I pushed forward and looking back Im glad I did because it was all worth it. I am really proud of teaching others how to fly and help them in there pilot journey it has really made aviation full circle for me.
How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?
Being a teacher in aviation has really allowed me to reflect as a person and grow becoming better through the reflection I see in my students eyes.
If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?
If I had to go on a jog with my favorite athlete it would be Serena Williams!
How do you help people stay motivated?
To help my students stay motivated I stay with them through there journey start to finish and provide support, Im here to help people not just to make a living.
What makes you a Superprof in sports?
What makes me a Superprof in aviation is having 1900 hrs and several ratings accomplished while also successfully helping 13 students pass there checkride.
