About Helen
Meet Your Saxophone Tutor – Helen Baruch Learning the saxophone should feel exciting, not overwhelming. That’s why I specialize in teaching beginner and intermediate players—helping you build strong foundations, gain confidence, and enjoy every step of your musical journey. I’m Helen Baruch, a passionate saxophonist and music educator with over 10 years of experience. My love for the saxophone began in a music-filled home, inspired by my elder brother, a gifted multi-instrumentalist. Over the years, I’ve developed a unique style that blends classical, contemporary, Afro, and soul influences, and I’m passionate about passing that knowledge on to my students. I’ve worked with over 30 students in private lessons, guiding absolute beginners through their very first notes and helping intermediates refine their tone, technique, and musical expression. My teaching style is patient, practical, and highly personalized—I adapt lessons to your goals, learning speed, and musical taste. You’ll learn not just how to play, but also how to read music, develop a rich and beautiful tone, play with creativity, and perform with confidence. Whether your dream is to play for enjoyment, join a band, or prepare for an exam, I’ll be there to guide you step-by-step. Outside the classroom, I’m an active performer, having played at The Experience Lagos with House on the Rock Church Band, collaborated with artists like Onos Ariyo, and contributed to projects such as Chinecherem by Neon Adejo and Peterson. My work as an artist under the name Helen Baruch focuses on creating music that brings peace, healing, and hope to the soul. Lesson Focus for Beginners & Intermediates: Easy-to-follow beginner lessons for a strong musical foundation Tone development and breath control Music theory and sight-reading basics Building stage confidence and performance skills Improvisation techniques for creative playing Coaching for school or graded music exams If you’re ready to start your saxophone journey—or take your skills to the next level—I’d be honored to be your guide.

I am a passionate and experienced saxophonist with over a decade of music training and teaching experience, dedicated to helping students of all ages unlock their musical potential. With a Diploma in Music and a degree in Public Administration, I blend technical skill with excellent communication and mentoring abilities to make learning the saxophone enjoyable, structured, and results-driven.
My journey with the saxophone began from a deep love for music, nurtured in a musically inclined family and inspired by my elder brother, a multi-instrumentalist. Over the years, I have developed a unique style that blends classical, contemporary, Afro, and soul influences—similar to the emotive sounds of artists like Mike Aremu, Kirk Whalum, and Pedro Eustache.
As a music educator, I have taught children, teenagers, and adults at various skill levels, from absolute beginners to advanced players. I have worked with over 30 students, both in schools and private settings,
My teaching approach is student-focused—tailoring lessons to individual goals, whether it’s learning to read music, improving tone quality, mastering improvisation, or preparing for performances and music exams.
In addition to teaching, I am an active performing artist. I have played at major events such as The Experience Lagos with House on the Rock Church Band, collaborated with notable artists like Onos Ariyo, and participated in high-profile projects such as Chinecherem by Neon Adejo and Peterson. My brand, Helen Baruch, focuses on creating music that brings peace, healing, and hope to the soul.
