About Jay
Hey! I’m a student at Princeton University who’s passionate about helping kids unlock their full potential. When I’m not deep in classes or tutoring, you can probably find me debating big ideas, solving Rubik’s Cubes way too fast, or geeking out over how people learn. I believe every student can succeed with the right support, and I’m here to help make learning feel exciting, empowering, and even fun.

1. Teaching Method and Techniques
I focus on building deep understanding through personalized explanations, active questioning, and real-time feedback. My approach is student-driven—I adapt to how each learner thinks, ensuring they not only solve problems but understand why the solution works. I draw on cognitive science principles I studied at Princeton to help students learn more efficiently and retain information longer.
2. A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session begins with a quick check-in and review of previous material to reinforce learning. Then we move into targeted problem-solving or concept breakdowns based on the student’s current goals or school curriculum. I incorporate pauses for reflection and encourage students to explain their thinking, which strengthens their grasp and builds confidence. We end by identifying key takeaways and planning next steps together.
3. What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
I combine elite academic training from Princeton with a down-to-earth, encouraging teaching style. I’ve been in the shoes of students who doubt their ability—and I’ve seen how the right mindset and strategies can unlock success. I focus just as much on how students learn as what they learn, helping them build the self-belief and habits that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
4. Who the Lessons Are For
I tutor middle school to early college students—especially those navigating core subjects like math, writing, and critical thinking. I’m particularly passionate about helping students who feel “stuck” or discouraged. Whether you're preparing for high school success, struggling in a required course, or aiming for academic excellence, I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow from there.
