About Rayaan
My name is Rayaan Farooq, and I am currently studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Economics A-levels and I am predicted A*A*A*A* in my subjects. I have a strong mathematical background, I myself achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics and obtained 225/240 marks available, and I also achieved an A in my AS further mathematics qualification, achieving 91%.
I firmly believe that tutoring from someone of a similar age group is much more effective as I am able to understand completely the topics people find hard, why they find it hard and how to explain it to them. People who have decades of experience often suffer from the curse of knowledge, where they simply cannot understand where students go wrong due to them having a much higher level of proficiency in the subject. Additionally, taking tuition from someone outside your age group can be daunting as there is a lot of pressure - it is much more relaxed when the tutor is someone you can relate to.

With around 1 year of tutoring experience and an excellent background in maths, I am certain that I would provide a valuable tutoring experience.
My lessons typically last 1 hour (this can be changed to suit your preferences!) and in the lessons there are a variety of potential activities. We can go over topic tests completed at school, do guided practice questions or go over topics that the student finds hard. Within my lessons, my main goal is that the student leaves more confident and better prepared to tackle questions. While students are often taught to memorise the method in school, I believe a firm understanding of how to approach questions and use the method is more important as it allows for students to solve all questions they come across. My lessons will be tailored to each individual students needs, no two of my lessons will be the same. I will take on a limited number of students so that each of my students can benefit from high quality tutoring. I am happy to help with questions the student has outside of tutoring time.
