I know that not everyone learns the same way! Some times it just takes phrasing something slightly differently to get a concept to click. I like to keep a stress free learning environment, and make sure we keep things fun! If hands on is better for you, then I suggest we model concepts with play dough. If you like to write notes, or listen to lectures or use visuals, then we can find a way to get the information in a way that makes the most sense for you, so that you can learn it, and keep it in your head for tests.
I am a distiller with a Bachelors of Biology (UBCO) and a Masters of Food and Beverage Science (Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh). I've studied biology, chemistry, physics, math and during my university days I worked as a high school and University Math and Science Tutor in West Kelowna. I've always been interested in teaching, and have started to take courses towards a Provincial Instructor Diploma. I try to balance my hands on application of things I've learned by working with different distilleries to make gin and whisky recipes, while keeping my academic side happy by sharing the love of science by tutoring and offering online courses.
Tutor rates start at $19 for high school level, and increase for higher level courses
Erica is organized, knowledgeable, and friendly! She does a great job of explaining things in multiple ways whenever needed, to ensure whoever she's teaching really understands the material. She makes her students feel comfortable and meets them where they're at - - there were no bad questions! What's more, Erica has a true passion for the material she teaches, and you can tell she's just a happy person in general. It's contagious and made the material way more enjoyable! I would recommend Erica to any student with zero hesitation.
