My approach is grounded in adaptive, student-centered learning. I assess how each student learns best—visually, audibly, kinesthetically, or through writing—and tailor my instruction accordingly. I focus on:
Conceptual Understanding First: I don’t just want students to memorize. I help them understand the “why” behind what they’re learning.
Guided Discovery: Rather than giving all the answers, I ask scaffolded questions to help students reach conclusions on their own.
Active Recall and Spaced Repetition: I build in methods proven to improve retention and long-term mastery.
Socratic questioning: I challenge students to think critically and justify their answers.
Frequent Assessment: Informal quizzes, problem walkthroughs, and open dialogue allow me to monitor progress and adjust pace.
2. A Typical Lesson Plan
While each lesson is tailored, a general 60-minute structure might look like this:
Check-in and Warm-up—- Quick review of the last lesson’s key takeaways or an entry question to activate prior knowledge.
New Concept Introduction— Brief, clear explanation using examples, analogies, or diagrams.
Application and Practice—We work through problems or tasks together, moving from guided to independent practice. I ask the student to explain the concept back to me to ensure understanding.
