About Ava

Math has always been one of my strongest subjects, and I especially enjoyed geometry. I completed my geometry course with a 100 average and am currently going into my junior year of high school, where I will be taking AP Calculus AB.

Because I have recently completed geometry myself, I understand the types of problems, proofs, formulas, and test questions students are likely to encounter in class. I also understand where students can get stuck and how frustrating it can be when a concept does not immediately make sense.

I am patient, organized, and comfortable breaking down multi-step problems into simpler parts. I like to explain not only how to solve a problem, but also why each step works so that students can build a stronger understanding of the material.

My goal as a tutor is to help students feel more confident in geometry, improve their problem-solving skills, and become more independent when completing homework, preparing for tests, and working through challenging concepts.

About the lesson

My geometry lessons are designed to make difficult concepts feel clear, manageable, and less overwhelming. I work with each student at their own pace and adjust my teaching style based on how they learn best. I can help with homework, test and quiz preparation, reviewing class material, and strengthening areas where a student may be struggling.

A typical lesson begins by identifying the concepts the student needs the most help with. We then review the underlying rules and formulas, work through examples together, and gradually move toward problems the student can solve independently. I focus on helping students understand why a solution works instead of simply memorizing steps.

I can help with topics including angles, triangles, similarity and congruence, circles, coordinate geometry, area and volume, transformations, the Pythagorean Theorem, and geometric proofs.

As a current high school student, I understand what it is like to learn these concepts in the classroom and prepare for tests and assignments. I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel free to ask questions, make mistakes, and work through problems without feeling rushed or embarrassed. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them become more confident and independent when approaching geometry.
