I have been able to hold a 90% score average in the subject of English language arts since the seventh grade and both my teachers and myself would say I have a proficient understanding of literary skills as well as poetic devices.

I’m a high school student with 90% score averages in English language studies since the eighth grade.
First I would ask what my student is struggling with or potentially what schoolwork they might require help with and go from there.
If the student were to struggle with homonyms for example, I would prepare a sheet with several homonyms and go through them one or two times until the session hours are up or until they seem to be developing a solid understanding of the subject.
I have experience helping many friends and classmates proof reading their essays/texts before being turned in to the teachers.
