About Roxana

Hola a todos! My name is Roxana Va Loson. I was born, raised, and educated in a beautiful South American country, Argentina. I came to USA right after college and I continued my studies here. I graduated with honors from the University of La Verne, California, with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. With over 30 years of teaching experience in the United States, 25 years of which were dedicated to teaching Spanish at the high school level. While living in Argentina, I finished the basic elementary teaching preparation dictated by the University system and I transferred those units to the University of La Verne in order to obtain a higher education degree in the United States. It is with great pride that I have tasted both higher educational systems, the American system, and the South American one. That alone, gave me the understanding of both systems and the tools to prepare myself for the future, and helping my students balancing their daily lives while preparing for their future. Understanding that globalization is part of this fast-growing multicultural world where speaking only one language is just no longer enough. My mission is to show you my cultural world and to teach you proper Spanish while I'm sharing my knowledge, my stories and my experiences. Let's give it a try! About the lesson

With my international background, and the desire to provide all students with an excellent education, my teaching philosophy has been centered on sharing my culture with students grades k-12 while teaching them my native language. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and to help them blossom into well-rounded, responsible, and successful individuals. I believe that in today's multicultural communities throughout the United States, knowing a second language and the particulars of another culture are essential to any young person's future success as a professional. As a teacher, I implement activities that focus on the basics. It is from this knowledge foundation that I can then help students grow more rapidly and effectively. It is the teacher's responsibility to guide and lead their students down the right path, and help those students to overcome obstacles and disappointments. In short, I am a teacher because this profession offers the opportunity to teach a piece of my culture and lend my ear and experience to young people.
