About Trevor

I grew up in Texas along the southern border of the US with Mexico. I have a minor in Spanish from Texas State University, and have travelled extensively to Spanish speaking countries, learning a variety of dialects along the way, too. As a student myself, I respect the dedication that each of you have towards your studies and your individual resilience to master this subject. I have taught Spanish to a variety of students of all ages and even English to Spanish speakers of all ages and backgrounds. When I am not attending graduate classes, I work part-time as a substitute teacher and collegiate tutor.

About the lesson

I believe that participation in the classroom is a gateway to being motivated to pursue an education away from the classroom. I believe the classroom is designed to introduce topics and theory for the purpose that the student will be well prepared, and excited, to learn the material outside of the classroom, in addition to answering any questions the student may come across on their personal learning journey. To that extent, I try to get to know each student individually to be be able to cater to them the material in the most convenient, invitational, and friendliest way possible. When you are learning a new language, you should expect to feel the pressure of not knowing how to communicate your thoughts and ideas, as we all did as infants and toddlers. It is important that your goals be to improve, and not to immediately master the material. Language is fun and engaging, and I like to present it with a similar approach that coaches utilize to convince their players to not only want to play the sport, but watch it and keep up with it long after practice is over.
