About Egor
At GCSE I had seven subjects at grade 9 and three at grade 8.
For A level I got 4 A*s in mathematics, further mathematics, physics and chemistry.
Now I'm a theoretical physicist pursuing a research career.
But before all that, I was bad at maths in school. Things turned around because of one good teacher.
My strength is that I can go beyond just helping you understand content, by showing you the real beauty behind the equations, what they're used for and where they can take you. This will encourage you to learn on your own and actually enjoy it.

My teaching style is well suited to older learners preparing for exams (year 10 and above). It's been built from my experience teaching A level students 1 to 1, and younger students in a group setting.
Lessons tend to be 60 minutes, and follow the structure outlined below unless the student asks for help with something specific. I do encourage students to approach me with their own problems and questions as much as possible, as I think being proactive is generally helpful for developing metacognition and becoming more independent.
Typically (in the first session), we would figure out what we need to work on from what the student feels their weaknesses are.
We would then start going through problems on the tougher side of the curriculum, in the sessions. I believe the only way to learn is by doing, and this serves as a good way for the student to effectively familiarise themselves with the relevant methods/techniques.
After the session, I would leave the student with a set of easier problems to do in their own time, to practise and learn the material, which we would go through in the next session. This avoids memorisation and helps the student feel like they're in control of their own learning.
There is also room for going through content in an explanatory style, if the student feels that the topic was not covered sufficiently at school. I always try to explain things from the ground up ("first principles") and assume as little initial knowledge as possible.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Egor is an exceptional tutor — good at teaching and explaining complicated concepts. I once had a trouble understanding thermodynamics and he broke down the big ideas in a way that even non-physicists could grasp.
He is passionate about physics and would be an excellent mentor for students who share that same curiosity and enthusiasm for the subject.View more recommendations
