About Gerard
I am an alumnus from one of Britain's top computing departments, and am currently studying abroad in Japan at Nagoya University. I'm a published researcher in computer vision and AI, and I have been tutoring for over five years now, ranging from 14 year olds to 4th year university students. I take pride in a holistic approach to computing - I worked at an electronics company which helped me understand hardware, most of my research is in AI but at heart I'm a mathematician as well as a computer scientist, and I feel like these skills allow me to help a wide range of people on their journey in learning computer science.

My approach to teaching Computing couldn't be expressed better than in the words of the great computer scientist Leslie Lamport: "Coding is to programming what typing is to writing ... If people are trying to learn programming by being taught to code, they are being taught writing by being taught how to type". I take this to heart by not just covering language syntax, but holistically everything that goes into programming: Algorithms and their mathematical justifications, knowledge of what your OS/Hardware is doing under the hood as well as style and best practices. It depends on the level at which I'm teaching, but I feel like a programming project allows for me to suit my lessons to each student individually, with lots of teaching opportunities emerging naturally helping with motivation and retention. I also explain schoolwork or coursework, what overall makes me the most happy is when people come to me with things they want to learn and an appetite for knowledge.

Perfect! Explained areas of my code that weren't working in a way that was really simple to understand, then assisted me in implementing these changes.
- Good Javascript, interesing project.See the response Gerard :

I really needed a professional tutor in order to have help for my assignments from the University I go to, and when he told me he can help me, I couldn't believe it as many tutors who currently work for filed or have master/Phd degree were not able to help my assignments. That being said, he instantly helped my assignments with his professional knowledge for CS and amazing coding skill. He must be the one you are looking for , so if you are close to dead line for assignments , do not hesitate to contact him, and it is all from my experience from having tutoring sessions with him.
I met Mr. Gerard about a year ago and he has been a great tutor for computer science and the occasional mathematics. His timings are flexible and open to change to suit your needs, and the lessons are personalized. The teaching style helped me to understand instead of memorizing topics. Overall, Gerard is a phenomenal tutor that helped me through AP Computer Science and has flexible timing that fits during tough school weeks.
