About Kevin

Research experience, academic excellence, and debate credentials make me a good tutor. A Research Assistant at the University of Toronto, I contribute to doctoral projects in epistemology, justice, and culture. My expertise in research helps students with essays, projects, and innovation. Studying law at the University of Oxford, I can guide students to fulfill their goals, both academic and otherwise, to compose a perfect university application. With 5 years+ of record in debating and public speaking, I challenge students to learn through discussion, logic, and reflection.

About the lesson

I teach through questions, challenges, and a logical process. As an aspiring lawyer and accomplished debater, I ground my lessons in critical thinking and persuasion. Under my guidance, elementary and secondary students learn to tackle complex issues from contrasting perspectives, developing an analytical mindset crucial for the social sciences and humanities. My lessons follow a logical structure, outlining actionable roadmaps that quickly transform students' performances. My tutorial in English writing instills habits of concision, elegance, and coherence in the writer.

Perfect! Kevin is a thoughtful and patient tutor. Even after just one session, we were very impressed by both his teaching approach and his manner. He is calm, polite, and easy to talk to, which helped my child feel comfortable and engaged right away. He also comes across as very thoughtful and mature in his thinking, which brings clarity and structure to his guidance. His communication is precise and articulate—almost like a lawyer—which further enhances the way he explains ideas.

He uses insightful, open-ended questions to guide students to think independently, rather than simply providing answers. He also took the time to explain the purpose of writing, helping my child understand not just how to write, but why we write, which I found especially valuable. In addition, he is very good at breaking down larger writing tasks into clear, manageable steps, making the process much less overwhelming.

Overall, it was a very positive first experience. Kevin creates a supportive and structured learning environment, and I feel very comfortable entrusting my child’s learning to him. We look forward to continuing with him.
