About Ray (Rishab)
Hi, I’m Ray - your 3D Art, Texturing & Rendering mentor
I’m a Toronto-based 3D artist with 8 years of professional experience at Guru Studio, where I contributed to major serialized productions including Paw Patrol (series and specials), Mecha Builders studio tests, and Charlotte’s Web studio test productions. These contributions further helped secure major IP rights at the studio, work that directly shaped the pipelines I now teach my students.
My journey started at George Brown College in Toronto, where I graduated and quickly earned a peer tutor position, helping fellow students master complex 3D concepts. That early teaching spark led me to spend the last 4 years as an instructor at Visual College of Art and Design (VCAD), teaching Advanced Lighting and Texturing. There I guided students through procedural asset creation, shader math, and full production pipelines.
I’m proficient in the complete industry toolkit: Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine, Substance Painter & Designer, ZBrush, and Houdini surfacing; exactly the tools studios use every day.
What drives me most is turning motivated students into confident, job-ready artists. Whether you’re just getting started or ready to push your skills to professional level, I bring real studio experience, clear instruction, and genuine enthusiasm to every lesson. My goal is always the same; to help you build a portfolio that stands out and opens doors.
Professional, patient, and 100% focused on your success.

My Approach as Your 3D Art, Texturing & Rendering Tutor
I combine 8 years of real-world industry experience (AAA games, animation studios, and VFX) with 4 years of college-level teaching to deliver a fast-track, college-equivalent curriculum designed for one clear goal: you walk away with an industry-standard portfolio piece that actually gets you noticed by studios.
My teaching style is hands-on, project-driven, and 100% industry-pipeline focused. I don’t just teach tools. I teach the exact workflows professional artists use every day. Expect clear demonstrations, real-time feedback, and techniques that go far beyond basic tutorials. I break down complex concepts into simple, logical steps while pushing you to develop advanced skills in texturing, material creation, lighting, rendering, and final presentation.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
- A proper college level curriculum with a focus industry pipeline
- Quick review & critique of your previous work.
- Focused theory + live demo of the day’s technique.
- Guided hands-on practice where I watch and coach you in real time.
- Independent project time tailored to your portfolio goals
- Final feedback round with specific, actionable advice (what to refine for industry level)
- Every lesson ends with clear homework that directly feeds into your final portfolio piece.
What Sets Me Apart:
- I’ve actually worked on production pipelines. I know what studios look for in a reel and portfolio.
- My students consistently land college program acceptances and junior artist roles because we build real, production-ready work, not just pretty renders.
- I adapt every session to your pace and goals while maintaining professional standards.
- I emphasize clean topology, efficient UVs, PBR texturing, look-dev, and rendering optimization — the details that separate hobbyists from hired artists.
Who These Lessons Are For
- Anyone with basic digital media knowledge (you’ve used Photoshop, Blender, or similar)
- Comfortable with high-school level math (no advanced calculus needed)
- Students aiming for college programs, self-taught artists wanting to go pro, or professionals looking to specialize in 3D art & texturing
- All levels from motivated beginners to intermediate artists who want to reach industry quality fast
Whether you dream of working in video games, animation, or VFX, I’ll guide you through the exact pipeline used in studios today and help you create a showreel piece you’ll be proud to put in front of art directors.
Ready to build something studios will fight over? Let’s get started.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I have known Rishab since 2022, when I appointed him as a Media Instructor for the Game Development and 3D Modeling and Animation programs at our college. His area of expertise lies in Lighting and Texturing, and students regularly value his sessions for the way he breaks down each topic in a precise and well-organized manner. I particularly value his teaching for its clarity and logical flow, as well as his skill in making complex concepts accessible and easy to grasp for learners.
He is a highly proactive and forward-thinking educator who has a strong understanding of what students need to learn in order to succeed in real-world professional environments. Rather than focusing solely on theory, he consistently strives to deliver practical knowledge and ways of thinking that can be directly applied in the field.
At the same time, he is not afraid to embrace new challenges and emerging technologies, while also possessing a deep and sophisticated understanding of traditional methods and foundational principles. This balanced expertise allows him to guide students not only in meeting the current demands of the industry, but also in preparing for future trends and directions.
Ultimately, he is an instructor who goes beyond simply delivering knowledge, offering students meaningful guidance for their growth and long-term career development.View more recommendations
