About David
At present, I am cellist with French music trio LESBOUM! who perform frequently both sides of the channel. I began my cello journey with a classical education, studying with Martin Bochmann at Reading University and playing in the Reading and Berkshire Youth Orchestras. After then studying music and composition (with Nigel Osborne) at Nottingham University I took a career turn and began playing with JazzPunk trio THE POINTY BIRDS, (with celebrated Bass virtuoso John Edwards), playing at festivals and prestigious venues round Europe, winning awards and teaming up with dance troupe, THE CHOLMONDELEYS.
My educational achievements have included 20 years working with the Lambeth Music Service teaching individual and whole classes and 15 years as a class music teacher in a Wandsworth school. I have been giving private individual lessons for 25 years plus.

I have a BA in Music, a PGCE teaching qualification and 20 years' experience of teaching in Secondary and Primary schools and giving private lessons for individuals of all ages.
As a teaching professional, working in schools and institutions I have kept abreast of the latest teaching and learning research. An awareness of neuro-divergent learning styles has also helped me to understand planning for individual needs and I can offer flexible programmes to support students.
I have had a solid grounding in classical music education, and can support pupils working through the grade system, but also, if you are looking to widen your horizons and repertoire, I am the teacher for you. Over many years playing in jazz, punk, rock and folk bands, I have developed a unique playing style specialising in rhythmic grooves and improvising techniques. I encourage a creative approach to music education.
