About Ella

I built a career in interior design for years before shifting toward teaching, and that precise, spatial background still shapes almost everything about how I run a French lesson today. Fourteen years into teaching now, I've worked with about three hundred fifty students, many of them detail-oriented professionals or simply people who find abstract classroom material genuinely uninspiring to sit through. My design background gives me a naturally precise, visual teaching style, treating vocabulary and grammar a bit like organizing a space, thoughtfully and with real intention behind every choice. I connect particularly well with students who respond to visual, structured learning rather than dry theory disconnected from anything tangible or genuinely practical. My teaching style is precise, warm, and genuinely detail-oriented, built on the belief that careful, specific language reflects careful, specific thinking more broadly in life. I take genuine pride in watching a student confidently describe a space or a design choice entirely in French for the first time. Many students tell me they finally understand prepositions and spatial description in a way generic lessons never quite managed to properly convey. My approach treats language as something to be arranged thoughtfully, not just memorized. After fourteen years, I remain genuinely passionate about this precise teaching approach.

My design career shapes an entirely spatial, descriptive approach to French teaching, since I genuinely believe describing a physical space precisely builds exactly the kind of detailed vocabulary many students otherwise lack. Lessons often start with a room, a photo, a layout, describing it together in real detail, since spatial description naturally requires precise prepositions and adjectives many learners genuinely struggle with elsewhere. Vocabulary grows around home, furniture, and spatial relationships, genuinely useful, practical words for describing where things are and how spaces function in daily life. Grammar gets taught through comparison and spatial description, prepositions especially, since these structures come up constantly and naturally when discussing layout, placement, and design choices. I encourage students to describe their own home or a dream space in detail, building genuine, personal speaking practice tied to something they can visualise clearly and easily. Listening practice sometimes uses home renovation shows and design content, exposing students to natural French wrapped around genuinely engaging, visual material. I keep lessons visual and precise, closer to a design consultation than a formal classroom lesson, since that atmosphere genuinely helps detail-oriented students stay engaged throughout. Writing practice includes describing spaces or writing simple design briefs, applying new vocabulary in a genuinely practical, structured way. Every lesson leaves students with precise, useful language.
