Hi! My name is Sungbin, and I’m an international student majoring in Film. As a native Korean speaker with a deep love for storytelling, I teach Korean through the lens of K-Dramas and Korean cinema, making the language come alive through culture, emotion, and real-world context. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, my lessons are designed to help you build confidence in speaking and understanding Korean in a natural, engaging way. My background in film helps me explain not just what people say, but why they say it, and how language and culture are deeply connected. I create a friendly, judgment-free environment where students feel supported, encouraged, and challenged to grow. About the lesson

My Approach as a Korean Tutor Using K-Drama and Cinema As a film major and a native Korean speaker, I combine my passion for storytelling and language to create an engaging and culturally rich learning experience. I believe language is best learned not just through memorization but through immersion—hearing how people speak in real-life situations and understanding the cultural context behind the words. Teaching Method & Techniques I use scenes from K-Dramas and Korean films to teach vocabulary, grammar, expressions, and pronunciation. This helps students learn the language in a more natural, emotionally connected way. We break down short scenes, repeat key phrases, and practice using them in conversations. My method is: Interactive: We repeat and role-play scenes together. Cultural: I explain the meaning behind idioms, body language, and social customs seen in Korean media. Practical: I encourage students to use what they learn in real conversations with me during class. Typical Lesson Plan Each class (held twice a week) usually includes: 1. Warm-up conversation (5–10 mins) 2. Review of the previous lesson + weekly assignment 3. Watch a selected scene from a drama or film 4. Break down vocabulary, grammar, and cultural elements 5. Speaking practice + role-playing the scene 6. Wrap-up & preview of next lesson Every week, students receive a small assignment, usually watching a clip or writing simple sentences using what we learned. What Sets Me Apart I teach Korean through storytelling, which makes learning more enjoyable and memorable. As someone studying film, I can explain both Korean and Western storytelling techniques and cultural differences. I focus on speaking and understanding, not just memorizing rules.
