Introducing One Health: the connection between animals, humans and their shared environments
Methodology
My classes clarify and simplify real-world problems like global warming, zoonotic diseases and food security. By looking at these issues from a One Health lens, students gain a unique understanding of the connections in our natural world. I use education as a catalyst for opportunity and development to help youth gain confidence, develop leadership skills and gain a global perspective on how to lead change within themselves and their communities.
Background
I am a fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Medical Science. I am knowledgeable in pathology, microbiology, geography and social science. My passion lies in One Health, which stresses the connection between human health, animal health and environmental health. Collaboration between individuals in these sectors is the key to solving complex health problems like the pandemic or climate change.
