About Donna

Hello, I have been an online piano teacher since 2020. I am an ISM (Independent Society of Musicians) Registered Private Teacher with an ISM approved DBS Enhanced Disclosure Certificate. I love supporting others on their musical journey because in a world where there is an over-focus on logic, the left side of the brain, there is a need for exploring our creativity and feeling a sense of accomplishment in a fun, relaxing, yet stimulating way. My training includes years of private lessons; 20+ years playing piano; ongoing learning & development to stay well-versed in current teaching trends and best practices; experience supporting church services & experience teaching beginner levels for adults & children during their first few years (absolute beginner to Grade 3). About the lesson

I encourage students (from 9 to 90 & beyond) to learn a variety of music or if they prefer, the music they choose using a variety of methods such as play by ear (trending), reading, lead sheets, and improvisation. Music is a language, so I approach music from a sound perspective first, then written. It is a 21st century way of teaching music. I provide a psychologically safe space for learning music -- mistakes can help us learn and sometimes, they are even happy accidents! I have taught online since 2020. I love teaching a variety of ages including busy professionals who need a creative outlet. It's a great stress reliever. Yes, online lessons do work. No, it's not too late for you to learn -- Seize the Day! Lessons are 45 minutes long and are via online. I a I have been teaching piano online since 2020. I can help you get ready for exams, your GCSEs. Exams are optional.
