About Holly

I am an Italian student based in Gravesend waiting for starting a master at LSE. I have been giving lessons for 5 years to primary school children, teenagers but also adults. Basically english, math, italian but also history, geography and other human sciences subjects. I followed two children with learning disabilities, a teenager whose parents are both deaf and two ADHD teaching them original and different ways to study, in order to make their life in school easier. All of my students got an improvement during the months spent together. I will not provide a CV for the platform (privacy: names, phone numbers, contacts etc...), but of course, I can provide references

About the lesson

My teaching method depends on who I have in front of me. I try to teach how to make and personalize conceptual maps, which is useful in each stage of education, while for languages and math it depends a lot on the age. I try to play as much as I can to teach children how to count and the properties of the numbers. The same happens for the languages. With the ADHD students, I used to walk around the city seeking for some objects with the letters that they were studying. I tried to play also teaching math, for example inventing types of table games using multiplication tables, math rules, inverse formulas. With others, I used the classical methods. For teaching foreign languages it depended on the level. Usually with children and teenagers I tried to use their passion (like "describe me this videogame you are playing and how to use the joystick") and games like guess who" while learning parts of the body. Of course with adults, I used more classical methods such as talking about their job, explain the grammar rules, or using post-it all around the house for vocabulary etc...
