During the first free lesson, we will get to know each other and I will tailor the following classes based on your needs, personal goals and interests. I believe a sound grammar knowledge is fundamental to gaining confidence in the language; therefore, particular attention will be dedicated to it in each lesson. This doesn't mean that the lessons need to follow a static structure. In fact, my method is interactive and flexible. It includes theoretical and practical studies simultaneously, with exercises and games. We can also have Italian culture-based lessons, since one of the best ways to learn a new language is by falling in love with its culture!

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak Italian fluently because it's my native language. Growing up in Italy, the language has always been a natural part of my life, whether at home with family, at school, or with friends. That being said, my true passion and deeper appreciation for Italian developed over time, thanks to some inspiring teachers I had during my studies. They didn't just focus on grammar or rules, but really helped me understand the beauty and expressiveness of the language, how much culture and emotion are embedded in every word.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

Dante Alighieri is undoubtedly the emblematic figure of Italian culture and language. Although he lived in the 14th century, his impact on the Italian language is still deeply felt today. His most famous work, the Divina Commedia, not only revolutionized Italian literature but also played a key role in standardizing the language, bridging the gap between the various regional dialects that existed at the time. Thanks to Dante, the Italian we know today began to take shape, and his influence continues to resonate in both literature and everyday language.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

One phrase I really love is *"Dolce far niente,"* which means "the sweetness of doing nothing." It perfectly captures an important aspect of Italian culture-the ability to truly enjoy moments of rest and relaxation without any rush or guilt. This phrase reflects the Italian way of embracing life's simple pleasures, whether it's sitting in a piazza, enjoying a coffee, or spending time with family and friends. It's a reminder to slow down and appreciate the present, which is something I find really special about the Italian way of living.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

As a native Italian, speaking this language means more to me than just sharing grammar and vocabulary; it's about conveying a unique philosophy of life. Italian embodies a warmth in communication and a depth of emotion that enriches every conversation. It matters deeply because, through Italian, I can share values, traditions, and a perspective on life that goes beyond geographical boundaries. This connection helps bridge cultures and fosters understanding, making language learning a truly meaningful experience.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

One of the main difficulties students face when learning Italian is mastering its grammar, especially verb conjugations and the use of tenses. Italian has a rich variety of verb forms, including present, past, conditional, and subjunctive moods, which can be overwhelming for learners, especially if their native language has a simpler structure. However, what helps the learning process immensely is consistent practice and immersion. I always encourage students to engage with the language in as many ways as possible: listening to Italian music, watching films, reading simple texts, and speaking regularly, even if they're unsure. Breaking things down into small, manageable steps is key, focusing first on the most commonly used structures and building from there.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

I remember a time in school when I struggled with the subjunctive mood, which can feel pretty daunting for many students. Instead of just focusing on grammar exercises, my teacher had us engage in real conversations where we had to use the subjunctive. One day, we pretended to be chefs at an Italian restaurant, discussing how we wanted different dishes prepared, using phrases like "Vorrei che tu cucinassi..." (I would like you to cook...). Suddenly, it all clicked for me. The subjunctive wasn't just an abstract rule; it was a way to express desires and opinions. I realized that connecting grammar to real-life situations made learning feel more natural. That experience taught me the importance of context in language learning, a lesson I always keep in mind when teaching my own students.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Travel has been essential in enhancing my skills and knowledge of the Italian language. Visiting different regions of Italy allows me to experience various dialects, accents, and local expressions that I wouldn't typically encounter. This exposure has broadened my understanding of how the language can vary from one area to another, helping me better meet my students' needs (in case they need to travel to a specific region).

Moreover, travel deepens my cultural understanding, which is crucial for teaching Italian effectively. Familiarity with the traditions, history, and cultural nuances of different regions enables me to illustrate the richness of the language beyond just grammar and vocabulary. Sharing these experiences with my students makes the learning journey more engaging and authentic, allowing them to connect with the language on a deeper level.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

What makes me a Superprof in the Italian language is a combination of my deep passion for teaching, my native fluency, and my ability to tailor lessons to each student's needs. As a native Italian speaker, I bring an authentic understanding of not just the language, but also the cultural nuances that are essential to truly mastering Italian. Having lived in both Italy and Spain, and teaching Italian to students in the USA, I am well-versed in adapting to different learning styles and cultural contexts. This multicultural experience allows me to create relatable examples and engaging lesson plans that resonate with students from diverse backgrounds.

Moreover, my experience teaching Italian online has refined my ability to use digital tools and platforms effectively. I focus on making lessons interactive, fun, and practical, ensuring students build confidence in speaking, listening, and writing. I emphasize real-world communication, using scenarios that my students can relate to, whether they are learning for travel, work, or personal interest.

I believe in patience and encouragement, understanding that language learning is a process that requires time and practice. My goal is to make my students feel comfortable, motivated, and excited about learning Italian, guiding them every step of the way toward fluency!
