About Laura

Hi! My name is Laura and I am a 25-year-old Japanese language tutor from Perth, Western Australia.

My passion for Japanese began during school and continued through university studies at The University of Western Australia (UWA). I later moved to Japan, where I lived and worked for 1.5 years while completing intensive Japanese studies at Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute (SNG) in Tokyo.

Through both academic study and real-life experience in Japan, I developed a strong understanding of Japanese language learning, culture, and communication. As a language learner myself, I understand the challenges students can face and enjoy helping beginners build confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.

I am familiar with JLPT study methods and can assist students studying for N5–N3 exams, ATAR Japanese, university coursework, conversation practice, and beginner to intermediate Japanese.

I believe language learning should be enjoyable, motivating, and personalized to each student’s goals. I look forward to helping students gain confidence while also sharing my love for Japanese language and culture!

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for beginner to intermediate Japanese learners of all ages, including school students, ATAR Japanese students, university learners, JLPT students, and those wanting to improve their practical everyday Japanese skills.

I am 25 years old and completed advanced, intensive Japanese studies at Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute in Tokyo, whilst also living and working in Japan for 1.5 years. I previously studied Japanese throughout school and at The University of Western Australia, giving me experience with both academic Japanese study and real-life communication in Japan.

Lessons are personalised to each student’s goals and learning style, with a focus on building confidence in speaking, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, and practical communication. I aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, and enjoyable while still helping students make steady progress.

I especially enjoy helping beginners who may feel nervous or overwhelmed when starting Japanese. As a language learner myself, I understand the challenges students can face and strive to make lessons approachable, motivating, and encouraging.

I can also support students preparing for JLPT N5–N3 exams, school assessments, university coursework, and ATAR Japanese studies.

Lessons are typically 1 hour or longer depending on the student’s needs and study goals.
