About Giovanni
I have had a passion for teaching since my first years of learning. I believe that teaching is the best way to learn for both student and teacher as there is always a chance for growth. I have had the luck to have learned from great teachers and I love to pass on their message to my students. I want to infuse my love for Jazz into students so that they can learn more about this beautiful music at their own pace in a relaxed environment.

FIRST LESSON IS FREE! I like to plan my lessons in accordance with the goals and desires of students. I like to keep a relaxed approach and work around how much time the student can devote to lessons and practice. Lessons last 1hr but other options can be discussed. I teach beginners/intermediates of any age via Zoom and my main focuses are music theory and learning tunes. My aim is to teach the student a method so they can eventually learn tunes by themselves by having acquired a deep understanding of the music. Some of the lesson topics include: - Reading lead sheets - Learning and internalising chord progressions - Chord voicings and substitutions - Scale rules - Chord movements - How to learn tunes and getting started with improvisation I started learning classical piano in 2003 and moved to Jazz independently in 2015. Since 2016, I have been a student with accomplished teacher Shan Verma who passed on to me the method of Dr. Barry Harris. I have also experience jamming with other musicians and recording.

I took lessons with Giovanni when I first started approaching the piano and it was great!
Giovanni was extremely patient and had a very clear way of explaining things, which made it much easier for a beginner like me to understand new concepts of music theory and get excited about them. He effectively tailored the lesson to my needs and constantly made an effort to draw parallels between the subject of the lesson and my music taste and interests.
Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone who is keen to learn how to play while having fun!Giovanni is a great tutor: he is very knowledgeable, fun and always on time. Cannot recommend him enough!
