About Yansi
After my music education at The New School and Humber College, I've gone on to perform at over 500 booked events regularly at various music venues, festivals, private events, and corporate functions throughout Toronto and New York.
Specializing in R&B, Soul, and Jazz, I also worked as a session musician for independent and commercial recording projects and
collaborated with a multitude of artists, producers, and songwriters such as Larnell Lewis and Matthew Burnett.
In that time, I also served as a core member of the resident house band for a recurring live music series (Listening Room Toronto).
Performed in more than 100 tribute show performances and
collaborated with OVO Sound recording artists Majid Jordan and Naomi Sharon.

My teaching Methodology is pretty simple, the main question that I try to get to the bottom of with students is, what is the main thing that's in between you and making the music that you love. Once we figure that out, we fine tune our approach and build step by step so that we can take on just about any musical challenge that's thrown at us whether it be theoretical or practical.
my lessons are for all learning levels be it beginner, intermediate or advanced

Yansi helped me remodel and streamline the way I learn music. He has a potent understanding of Black American music from Swing to modern R&B. Timing and intentionality were the primary focus of our lessons as I am a saxophonist. I can't recommend him enough.
