About Spencer
Swimming has been a significant part of my experience, but being able to swim well is only one part of being a good instructor. Over the years, I have developed a deeper understanding of technique, breathing, body position, endurance, efficiency and the mental side of becoming comfortable in the water. As a certified swimming instructor with extensive coaching experience, I have learned that every swimmer arrives with a different relationship with the water. Some need technical refinement, while others first need someone who makes them feel safe enough to try. That is where my approach begins. I combine my own experience in the water with structured instruction, patience and careful observation. My goal is never to make you feel judged for where you are starting. I want you to feel understood, supported and confident that there is a clear path between where you are now and where you want to be.

Every lesson begins by understanding where you are rather than assuming where you should be. I take time to learn about your previous experience, your strengths, the areas that make you hesitate, and most importantly, what you want to achieve. From there, we create a clear and realistic progression that gives you something meaningful to work toward. Early lessons focus on building the right foundations without overwhelming you, while each following session introduces a new challenge at a pace that feels achievable. I want you to leave every lesson knowing exactly what you improved and what comes next. As your confidence grows, the lessons naturally become more demanding. The goal is not simply to complete a syllabus, but to help you eventually realize that something which once felt difficult has become something you can handle independently.
