Hi, I’m Dr. Jyothis Thomas, a tutor with a PhD in Physics and over a decade of experience teaching Physics, Chemistry, and Math. I’m passionate about helping students succeed by making complex topics simple and relatable.

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
My interest in Physics began during high school, where I was fascinated by how the laws of nature explain the world around us. This curiosity deepened as I pursued higher studies, eventually earning a PhD in Physics. Exploring the intricate details of the universe and understanding how Physics connects to real-world applications solidified my passion for the subject.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
I'm passionate about Physics, Chemistry, and Math because they reveal the fundamental principles that govern everything around us. These subjects challenge us to think critically and solve problems creatively. Sharing my passion and seeing students grasp and enjoy these subjects is incredibly rewarding.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
Tutoring allows me to make a meaningful impact by helping students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals. I enjoy breaking down complex concepts into simple, relatable ideas and seeing the "aha" moments when students truly understand.
One of the highlights of my teaching journey was working with master's students, where I guided them through advanced topics and research. My personalized approach, dedication, and ability to adapt to each student's needs are what make me a "Superprof.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
My biggest inspiration is my PhD supervisor, Prof. Dr. Raman Kashyap. Under his mentorship, I gained invaluable knowledge and numerous opportunities that shaped my academic journey. One of the most memorable experiences was meeting Nobel Laureate in Physics, Dr. Donna Strickland, which was truly inspiring. The guidance, encouragement, and insights I received from Dr. Kashyap continues to influence my teaching and dedication to helping students achieve their goals.
What are your keys to success?
My keys to success are consistency, adaptability, and passion for teaching. I believe in building a strong foundation, fostering curiosity, and creating a supportive environment for learning. By tailoring lessons to each student's needs, I help them reach their full potential and achieve success in their studies.
