About Iris

Come on a journey with me to discover French culture! I started my journey as a tutor with kids with special educational needs (AS, ADHD, dys problems). I found that they were the ones needing the most help out of all the children I was meeting. Having the opportunity to watch them grow and develop adapting skills to remain motivated at school was the highlight of my work. It also provided a very rich training ground for me. I then extended my teaching to adults after meeting students in my classes who were struggling with languages. That's mainly how I started to teach English and French during my years of studying. My double bachelor degree in Psychology and Educational Sciences prepared me for challenging learning situations and I am very open to teaching people with learning disabilities. It also allowed me to dive into educational and cognitive psychology behind learning. Being a tutor for me means providing as many practical tools as possible, as well as helping discover French culture, history and jargon. Talk soon!

About the lesson

TEACHING ADULTS With time, I learned that students preferred a conversational approach to learning a language. This is the approach I want to take, but I can adapt to your needs. I’d love to help you use the language in everyday life and make it sound natural. We can talk and I correct you as you speak, or we can use one of my grammar and vocabulary resources to complete the lessons. You will have your own file filled with what you choose to learn and what I will suggest to discover. TEACHING KIDS Whether your child or teenager is a fresh beginner or needs support in learning, I will focus my teaching more on visuals and audios to make it entertaining to them and help them engage fully in lessons. As parents, you can be present during the lessons and a report can be provided after some lessons, tracking your child’s improvements if needed. Whether teaching adults or kids, I can center the lessons around the resources, or they can be given strategically at certain times. Whatever you prefer! Learning a language means working on every aspect of it. You'll need to develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. It can seem like a challenging process but it will really be rewarding in the end. They are all very much connected, so my personal challenge will be to help you develop all of that. I am absolutely passionate about teaching languages and I am really looking forward to helping you reach your goals!
