My method in teaching is one of championing creativity. Rote memorization is often important for many subjects but I prefer to cultivate a deep understanding of concepts through conversational and visual pedagogies.
With a new student I quickly scale where they are in any given subject, and develop lessons, specific to a particular student's interests, enhancing the student's understanding and plan to move forward.
I am a carpenter and world traveler. I have studied chemistry and math at Carleton University. Lived in Japan for a year after high school, worked in a ramen restaurant and tutored English where I developed a love for teaching. Upon returning to Canada, I began the B.Sc. Program at Carleton. Concurrently and then upon leaving Carleton I owned and operated a general contracting company, employed, and mentored many people, young and old over the next 12 years.
