About Roberto
I completed my studies in Law in October 2017, defending a research thesis in Philosophy of Law under the direction of Mr. Ballarini Adriano.
My thesis, entitled “The crisis of democracy”, analyzed the critical issues and the state of health of Italian democracy (and, more generally, of Western democracies) from the perspective of the Italian philosopher of law Norberto Bobbio. My research was inspired by his work, The future of democracy, and aimed to investigate the origins and possible future trajectories of the democratic system.
It was through this research that my curiosity about a "purer" Philosophy, and the role it can play in the understanding of the real, was ignited. The tools offered by law, however useful, did not seem sufficient to understand the functioning and the social role played by institutions. It was for this reason that I decided to leave for Canada and continue my studies in Philosophy at the University of Montréal.
