About Patrick

I am known as the guy who can always help someone with their computer issues - whether it is software, or hardware, a cell phone issue or even their internet connection. For a time back in the day I actually custom built PC's for people and provided support for them as well.

While I may not be local to you, that doesn't mean I can't help you solve whatever it is you're trying to solve.

For fun on the side I also DJ and host Karaoke shows - but since COVID I haven't been able to do that so I thought this might be a way I can still reach out to people doing the things I love...

About the lesson

I got into computer programming when I was about 9 years old when MS-DOS and CPM were first coming out. I lived across the street from Long Beach City College and would go to the computer lab every day after school. Even though I wasn't a college student they let me in (and put up with me every day ;) ) When I had a question about BASIC programming - the lab assistant on duty would explain to me what I needed to know and I went from there.

Fast forward a few years and I stopped having to ask the questions and the lab assistant(s) would start asking me for help when they needed to help another student. I was even helping students fix bugs in their pascal and cobol programs and I didn't even know those languages - but the structure of the language was similar enough that I could look at the code and point out areas where they needed to tweak things to get it to work. It became almost second nature to my thought process.

At the age of 25 in 1991 I founded my first C-Corp to become a contract software consultant and have worked for many large corporations since then - including Bank of America, Nestle Foods, Citibank and KB Home, to name a few.

Now at the age of 56, I am still doing what I love as a full time job - and would love to help others get started the same way those lab tutors in college helped me to start my journey.

There's no better feeling that when the software you wrote does exactly what you wanted it to do - and in the process it solves a business need or problem that needed solving.
