About Jim

As an advertising executive and having worked at major agencies throughout the country, I've been using Photoshop from the time it was introduced. Now retired from a long and successful advertising career, I currently teach Photoshop classes privately, or with groups at the Evanston Art Center and through workshops. I believe the best way to teach anything, and especially Photoshop, is by helping students understand the why behind the way things work. About the lesson

If you're using anything other than Photoshop to edit your photos, you're only getting a fraction of the joy you could have creating images that are frame worthy.

When it comes photo editing, I probably don't have to tell you Photoshop rules the roost. Many would like to learn Photoshop but give up sooner or later because its too complicated, or too time consuming, or there's just too much to remember.

I don't like overpromises myself, so I won't tell you Photoshop can easily be learned in 8 hours, 30-days, or whatever time frame is being promoted on Youtube. However, I will tell you that I can make what once seemed complicated very simple. I provide an easy-to-grasp, fun way to learn the essential tools you'll need to know. And through guided practice sessions you'll be able to readily recall what to do when certain problems arise.

Jim is extremely knowledgeable of not only Photoshop but of other photo-editing programs. I was able to take his Photoshop I class and he was very open to questions in and outside of the classroom, answering them via text or email which was extremely helpful.
He is especially good with students who are at an advanced level.
