About Mario

Composer, music producer, singer-songwriter. Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, 1995.

In 2011 he began his musical training from the Center for Artistic Education (CEDART) "Miguel Bernal Jiménez" with a specialty in classical guitar under the tutelage of Lic. José Juan Chávez Pimentel.

Between 2012 - 2014 he attended Afro-Latin percussion workshops with teachers such as Roberto Vizcaino Guillot, Roberto Vizcaino Jr, Alan Montoya and Felipe Ávalos Cervantes.

Student between 2016 and 2020 of the Bachelor of Music and Artistic Technology at the National School of Higher Studies (ENES Campus Morelia) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) where he has carried out composition studies by Dr. Rodrigo Sigal , Dr. Juan Sebastián Lach Lau, Dr. Mario Duarte.

He has taken diplomas and masterclasses with composers such as Felipe Pérez Santiago and Simon Emmerson, as well as revision of work by instrumentalists such as Felipe Pérez Santiago, Norio Sato, Versus 8 and Iván Manzanilla.

Founding member and ex-percussionist of the contemporary Afro-Latin popular music group “Yermo Yerto” from 2016 to 2021, during which time they were part of the line up together with various national and foreign groups such as Los Choclok, San Juan Project, Los de Abajo, Collective Green House, Tropikal Forever, Golden Ganga, Valeria Carrillo (Mexico), Francisco el Hombre (Brazil) and Riosentí (Germany).

In 2020 he participated as composer and sound designer in the documentary short film "Corazón de maguey" (official selection of the Tequila International Film Festival (FICT)).

That same year, under the pseudonym “Beso Maconha”, he co-produced with Tiburcio Maya the album “Caldo de Rex”, the first material from the band “Caldo de Rex”.

From 2020 to 2021 he joined the project "Farruca" (contemporary rumba-flamenco) as a percussionist.

In 2021 he joined the Peruvian cajon to the group “Desterradxs” (folk-punk) and they released their first single “Desterradxs”.

Composer of the music of the song “Yo gritaré por ti” from “Perros de guerra” (rap) (Tlaxcala).

He currently works as an independent music and production teacher, percussionist, music producer and singer-songwriter under the pseudonym "Cupatitzio", the latter sharing a line-up with "Son Rompe Pera" and "Sinuhé García".

About the lesson

We will learn the technical bases to play each instrument, as well as the main rhythmic patterns of Afro-Latin music.

Particular attention will be paid to reading rhythmic exercises to develop coordination and independence.
