My methodology is same as my teachers viz Michel Thomas & Bill Worden.
When a child learns to speak, his parents don't give him notes and study material. They speak to him and he tries to repeat their words. At first, he pronounces the words wrong, his parents laugh, but over the time he practises it and becomes fluent. Later, when he goes to school, he learns the grammar and script of the language.
The same principle holds true for learning a new language. Until and unless you start speaking you can't learn a language. Handing over notes and study material can't make you speak a language. I have a simple formula "Ink it if you can think it" which means write what you understand to consolidate it, not just to waste the paper.
Once the student start to articulate the words, I provide world class practice material for consolidation of the subject matter. And thus, the language settles down in the subconcious mind where it belongs and you feel like a native speaker of that language.
