About Helen

I am a freelance digital SEO and marketing writer as well as a University level writing tutor. I graduated with a BA in Legal Studies at Carleton University with a minor in Art History. I speak both Cantonese and English. If you need assistance in writing, reading comprehension, grammar, and other forms of English related topics please reach out and I would be more than happy to help!

About the lesson

My teaching method is personalized to the student and/or the content being taught. Every individual is different and a solid foundation of knowledge is created only when the student's learning needs are met.

I would first like to know about the student. What would they like to achieve? What problems are they facing with a particular piece of work? Then I move on to building a lesson plan that addresses those needs.

For example; if a student is struggling with writing an essay, I would help them formulate a thesis and arguments. Then I would go through proper sourcing and citations as outlined in the assignment guidelines. From there I would help facilitate the writing process and edit the work with the student.

Patience, encouragement, and attention to details are what I excel at as a tutor.
