Find a badminton coach in Summerside

Coaches usually build a beginner's badminton training around five basic technical skills.

• Grip: the forehand and backhand grips decide where the racquet face points, and where the shuttle goes.
• Footwork: the six-corner movement pattern gets you to the shuttle early and balanced.
• Serve: a low serve just over the net in doubles, a high deep serve in singles.
• Overhead strokes: hitting the shuttle high and in front of you gives power without strain.
• Net play: net shots, lifts and net kills decide most points at club level.

With a personal instructor, you get instant feedback on technique instead of guessing what went wrong.

In Summerside, expect to pay about $25/h for a Badminton lesson.

The cost depends on:

• Your level: beginner, intermediate or competitive player.
• The coach: a former provincial player usually charges more than a club coach.
• The format: single lessons, weekly training or a full block of classes.
• The location: private courts and peak evening slots add to the cost.

Sharing a session with a friend or family member lowers the cost per player.

Players start badminton at five or at fifty, and both can progress quickly.

• Ages 5 to 7: short racquets, big shuttles and games that build coordination and balance.
• Ages 8 to 12: the sweet spot for learning proper grip, footwork and overhead strokes.
• Teenagers: many provincial players in Canada start seriously between 12 and 16.
• Adults: adults learn technique faster because they understand the reasoning behind it.

With a personal coach, a beginner of any age skips the trial and error stage entirely.
