How does one do that, you may ask? Here are 5 basic skills that you should know when learning how to draw:

Recognize and understand edges - definable forms are simply a set of borders or sides. From simple line drawings to an intricate still life, or a flowing landscape - all require an understanding of how edges behave to show you what is going on and the forms meant to be portrayed.

Space - This is the areas in which your object occupies and the areas in which your object does not occupy. All forms necessitate the use of space.

Shadows and Light - The perception of values (lightness or darkness of colors) could be one of the most essential skills of drawing an artist must understand. It’s all about balance and building.

Relationships - like in interpersonal relationships, at least two people must interact and collaborate cohesively to form a connection. Drawing is similar. Object lines must work together and interact in a way that makes sense and is relative to the other lines on the paper. Any single thing you draw on paper is related to something else on that same sheet of paper. You, the drawing artist, must ensure that all partnerships make sense in order for the final work of art to make sense.

Cohesiveness - this means, bringing all of the previous skills together to make sense. Bringing the aforementioned skills together in order to produce a drawing takes time and practice.
