My main teaching manifesto is to teach whatever the student is wishing to learn. We will spend lesson time on whatever interests you the most. If you just want to learn songs and work on basic chords Im happy to indulge you but if you want to take a more well rounded approach and learn theory and note reading Im more than able to accommodate that as well.
I guide my students to learn to play chords, read notes and to effectively learn faster on the guitar. I believe every guitar student should have a good foundation in healthy technique that will only enable them to enjoy the instrument better and play in whichever style they choose to focus on.
My goal is to help students achieve their goals and learn to play the music that they are passionate about. Whether your goal is to play the music of your favourite artists, or to prepare for formal conservatory exams, I take the knowledge you need and break down into simpler, manageable that you can practice to build your skills.
I'm very flexible in my approach since I don't believe one size fits all when it comes to education and I aim to cater each lesson to the needs of the student. Though I'm primarily focused on songwriting and composition, I'm open to diving into whatever you're hoping to learn.
I value flexibility in my guitar teaching because I realize all of my students are unique. I have found that most people will have some existing everyday skills that can help them in their quest to become better musicians, even with little to no musical experience. For example, if you're a good conversationalist then you may be adept with improvisation.
Using the songs you want to learn, I explore theory, technique and build an understanding of the fundamentals of music. All this adds up to get you playing your favorite songs fast! Lessons will improve your ear so you can hear a song and play it from memory.
I teach solely based on the student and what they excel in and strive to find a balance, ease and joyful approach to learning.
I provide the necessary material (a manual written by me) teaching chords, arpeggios, scales and soloing from the study of musical pieces of various kinds in order to immediately put into practice what learned. I give customized lessons based on the needs and wants of each student.
Throughout the 5+ years of teaching music all over Wellington, New Zealand, the following responsibilities were required: • Tutoring students of all ages - from 6 to 60, and of all skill levels - from beginners to advanced. • Developing each student’s skill in playing guitar and expanding their knowledge and appreciation of music.
I teach based on your interests, expectations and skills in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. We can only focus on the technical aspects of playing the acoustic and electric guitar, or we can also tackle other subjects like music reading, modern harmony, improvisation, arrangement, composition, on different genres (rock, blues, pop, jazz, world, folk, reggae, fusion, etc).
My methods are completely based upon my personal experience and they continue to evolve as my students do as well. that being said right now i believe in three important factors which are first 1.the artist 2.the technician 3. the architect. All these three roles are important and i continually search for more.
My teaching method is tailored to each students specific needs, and uses a fun relaxed approach to ensure the student enjoys learning every step of the way.Regardless of skill or talent,my students expectations and needs are are of utmost importance to me.
