About Joy

Hello! I'm Joy, a Korean teacher living in Toronto. Nice to meet you! :)

I've been in Canada for over 7 years and have met friends from various nationalities. During that time, I've encountered many people who want to learn Korean. It all started when I began teaching Korean to my friends, and now I want to offer fun and beneficial classes to international learners interested in the language.

Since my college days, I've taught a diverse range of learners, from children to adults. I first assess the student's goals and needs, then design a structured curriculum tailored to them. I also provide customized lessons based on each student's characteristics, age, and learning style to ensure steady and significant improvement. :)

Honestly, starting to learn a language can be the scariest part. I felt that way too, and I still get nervous every time I use my second language. Thoughts like, "What if my pronunciation is weird?" or "What if I'm too slow and it feels awkward?" run through my mind.

That's why in my classes, instead of striving for perfection from the get-go, we start by gradually lowering the pressure and building confidence. First, we identify the learner's goals (travel/hobby/work/exams, etc.), current level, and learning style, then create a balanced curriculum that includes speaking, listening, and expression expansion. After class, I also guide you on short and practical review methods so you can practice on your own.

Starting out right is crucial. In our first lesson, I'll help you feel like, "I can do this!"
