About Karen
I am most inspired by teaching those who want to learn! The step up from GCSE to A level is vast, and so I feel it is important to break the content down into bite-size pieces and then connect the dots to develop your subject knowledge. Teaching is very rewarding when you see a student build confidence in tackling those exam questions and succeeding in taking their next step! Like many people, the challenge of the pandemic gave me the opportunity to develop my skills to teach online. I believe that we should always look to be flexible and adapt our methods. I have many years' experience in teaching and preparing students for exams. I hold a BSc(Hons) degree in Genetics and also a PGCE, both from the University of Manchester. I am also a qualified counsellor, and these skills help me to really listen to the needs of my students and empathise if they need to repeat a concept or change the pace, as well as better supporting them to manage exam stress.

A level Biology support tailored to your needs in the comfort of your own home! Sessions are planned to ensure you make progress and fill the gaps in your learning. One-to-one sessions available, and small group for a reduced rate (max 4 students). Sessions will be 50-60 minutes with current availability Wednesday daytime. We will look at subject content on a topic of your choice and analyse how to tackle the exam questions to gain the maximum marks. I am a qualified and experienced teacher, currently practising and teaching Year 12 and 13.

I can’t recommend Karen enough for tutoring in A level Biology. She’s not only very passionate about the subject, but incredibly knowledgeable, which makes learning with her fun and worthwhile. Many of her students have gone on to study biology at university, and have kept in contact with her well after their studies. This demonstrates the great rapport she has with her students, as well as what they’ve been to able to achieve. Aside from work, Karen is an excellent mum, and has a great way with kids. She’s an amazing tutor and a lovely person whom anyone would benefit from working with!
