About Karl

Hey there! I'm Karl, a student who struggled all the way through university but ultimately got into the exciting world of cutting edge automotive tech. I'm into mountain biking, snowboarding, and fixing up cars. I am recently coming back to tutoring and I want to help you with your high school math, science or programming. Especially if you're feeling stuck. My school life had more problems than your math book so trust I can relate! My secret sauce is analogy: I have a talent for connecting the abstract ideas in your schoolwork to real world things that you already understand and care about. Let's make physics more like shredding a good bike trail, or better yet whatever you like doing in your free time.

About the lesson

Why was the 🟰 sign so humble? Because it knew it wasn't less than or greater than anyone else.

I have a couple of engineering degrees, a lot of time in automotive engineering. I also have a payload of pathetic jokes, but I won't let that stop me from bringing high school math and science to life through real-world applications. Let's connect the theories in your textbooks to real world examples from my engineering experience. Or your favourite tech innovations from TikTok and YouTube. Or video games. Whether we're exploring the principles of Physics with Mario Kart mechanics or thinking about how to write programs for self-driving cars, my goal is to make learning both relevant and exciting.

My school life was full of headaches and frustrations that made it a real pain for me to keep up, never mind succeed. Most of it was stuff that my parents, teachers and friends did not understand. It's almost hard to believe that I made it all the way through a Masters degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Waterloo, then launched an exciting career with one of the world's most important companies in automotive tech, but here I am. When it comes to problems like learning discipline, worrying about tests, pressure to succeed and even wondering if it's all worthwhile... I get it. Let's just take it one manageable step at a time, and make it as fun as we can. I'm here to support not just your grades but also your confidence in overcoming the challenges that you have.
