About Emily
I am a dedicated and high-achieving Grade 12 student at Bur Oak Secondary School, currently completing a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Health and Wellness. My academic journey has been driven by a passion for the sciences, leading to my acceptance into the Life Sciences and Biomedical Sciences programs at many Ontario universities for the upcoming fall.
Throughout my high school career, I have maintained a spot on the Honor Roll while balancing a rigorous course load in Biology and Chemistry. My background isn't just academic; I have spent years developing leadership and communication skills as a Chief Scout Award recipient and a volunteer manager for school clubs. I also hold several professional certifications, including Infection Control and Worker Health and Safety, which reflect my disciplined and responsible approach to everything I do.
As a tutor, I understand the pressure of the current Ontario curriculum and the university application process firsthand. My goal is to be more than just a teacher; I want to be a mentor who helps students navigate their academic challenges with confidence, patience, and a positive mindset.

About Your Lessons
My Approach:
I believe that Biology and Chemistry shouldn't feel like a list of facts to memorize, but a puzzle to solve. My goal is to help students understand the why behind scientific concepts, whether we are discussing cellular respiration or chemical equilibrium. Having balanced a high-intensity high school curriculum (SHSM Health & Wellness) with top grades, I teach my students the same study strategies and active recall techniques I use to stay on the Honor Roll.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like:
Concept Review (15 min): We tackle a specific topic from your class that feels confusing.
Problem Solving (30 min): We work through practice problems or past exam questions together to build confidence.
The Big Picture (15 min): I show you how this concept connects to real-world health or medical scenarios, making it easier to remember for the long term.
